Security awareness in the age of AI
It is Monday morning. Coffee in hand. An email lands. Urgent! Your print order needs approval. The logo looks right. The customer name looks familiar. There is a link to review the order. You click. Nothing happens. You move on.
A few hours later, IT discovers that the link was malicious. Someone has gained access to credentials that could open the door to sensitive business information. All from one click.
That is exactly why cybersecurity awareness is something we return to every year at Prindustry.
Recently, our team took part in our annual NRD Cyber Security awareness training. The training focuses on the risks that are easy to underestimate in everyday work. Passwords, social engineering, suspicious emails, data protection and safe online behaviour.
This year's highlight? AI.
Technology is changing how we work and is also changing how cybercriminals work. Training matters because people make the final decision. Security technology can filter spam emails, block unusual activity and add extra layers of authentication. But eventually, someone still has to decide whether to click.
That is where awareness matters. According to the 2026 KnowBe4 Phishing by Industry Benchmarking Report, the average susceptibility to simulated phishing was 33.2% before security awareness training. After twelve months of continuous training, it fell to 4.2%.
Threats change. Habits change. Training helps people keep up with both. During Prindustry’s 2026 NRD Cyber Security awareness training, employees were specifically trained to evaluate suspicious requests based on context rather than relying only on spelling or visual clues.
AI makes the familiar harder to trust. The classic phishing email used to give itself away with bad spelling and strange wording. That’s how we recognized a suspicious sender. Now AI can remove many of those clues. A phishing email can now be polished, personalised to someone’s role and written to sound like a real customer, supplier or colleague.
In April 2026, KnowBe4 reported that 86% of phishing attacks observed in its research were AI-driven. So instead of only asking, “Does this email look suspicious?”, we increasingly need to ask, “Does this request actually make sense?”. That was one of the most relevant takeaways from this year’s training.

For print software, ISO 27001 means information security is managed through a structured and continuously reviewed system rather than through isolated security measures. That becomes especially important when one SaaS platform connects users, products, orders, pricing, brand assets and business workflows. The technology provides protection. The standard provides structure. And regular training helps the people working with those systems stay alert. One click is still enough.
AI is not simply a cybersecurity threat. It can also help organisations analyse unusual behaviour, identify threats and respond faster. The lesson from this year’s training was therefore not to fear AI. It was to use it with awareness. Because sometimes the biggest security risk is not an advanced technical attack. Sometimes it is one convincing email. One familiar logo. One rushed click. And one moment where awareness makes all the difference. Security is everyone’s responsibility.
